Candy Making Classes

Home Party

Teaching candy making classes is a great way to gain loyal customers. You will be offering a fun craft and the resources for repeat ordering. Below are some FYI's to keep in mind when starting your classes.

  • Teach at Least 5 people at a time. Anymore than that tends to get a bit hard to make it around the table.
  • Have more supplies available to them after class is over for purchasing. We've found even though kits were purchased people want to buy another mold and the supplies.
  • Kits are generally purchased in advance from your student along with a $1.80 ship/hand fee. The $1.80 from each student pays for your shipping.
  • A kit can be purchased for you as well but we suggest utilizing all students to teach the method. In other words just guide each student for straight pour, marbling etc. This way it doesn't cut into profit.
  • Classes take up to 1 to 1.5 hours
  • Schedule at least 4 classes a week. This can be done at your home or a friends home. Very similar to a home party outline.
  • Classes are done in stages. First class is basic candy making. Straight pour, maybe teaching adding a 2nd color. Second class moves onto making suckers and marbling chocolate. Third class is teaching how to make soft center chocolates, nut clusters, building an assorted candy box.
  • Students will more than likely sign up for each stage. However, schedule each stage at least 3 weeks apart. This gives time for your students to gain skill from the first class.

This is almost the same as just teaching classes. However more of an investment is required because of hotess gifts, and game playing. This is geared around candy making and teaching the craft.

  • Hotess gift can be a kit itself.
  • Utilize a space to display several different chocolate pieces.
  • A sucker can be given to each person coming to the party. Each sucker can be marked with one of those star stickers. When the deminstration is over a prize can be given to the one who drew the gold star, silver star and so on.
  • Party should be based on a theme. Take your seasons and work with those.
  • Up to 12 people can be invited.
  • You will be showing candy making using up to 3 molds giving each person a chance to try their hand at it.
  • Remember to always charge a process fee like the $1.80 for the sturdents in the classes. That fee will always cover your shipping costs.
  • No inventory is available here. It's ordering from a catalog. Have at least 3 catalogs for handing out.
  • Let guests know when the deadline is. A good mental note is 5 to 7 days from the party and 7 days for delivery. So you will want to schedule every 2 weeks for ordering. The 1st and the 15th tend to be the best.
  • Guests pay in advance.

Candy Party

This candy party is geared more towards guests purchasing ready made candies, not candy making. Based around holidays mostly.

  • Make sure you have a fun theme and the decorations to create the setting.
  • Gift basket and boxes are really focused here. Individual peices should be large pieces with bite size to match the them.
  • There is no pre-set price setting here. Take your costs and multiply by 2. This is a great way to gain 100% profit.
